Most coastal floodplain maps are hopelessly out of date, yet communities depend on them for flood and rising sea level response. There must be a high priority put on getting these maps produced and circulated. Without accurate floodplain maps, developers, government managers, and NGOs cannot do their job to build sustainable and protected environments.
